Clean BBQ Grill Grates in Your Oven

If you’re looking to clean your BBQ grill grates without ammonia, there’s a simple method that requires no elbow grease or harsh chemicals. Check it out—it’s your oven that’s able to do the dirty work for you.

Granted your grill grates are small enough, toss those bad boys on the top rack in your oven. You’re going to burn off the gunk. Make sure to line a baking sheet in tin foil and place it on the bottom rack to catch any BBQ debris that may ooze off.

Next, turn on your oven to 500°F for an hour. If you don’t want to heat up your home when it’s already hot outside, it’s best to do this cleaning trick at night.

Now, your kitchen might get a little smoke-filled, so turn on your vents, open up a window, and you should be good to go. All of that burnt-on goo is turning into ash! After the hour is up, allow your grill grates to cool.

You’re almost done. To finish off the grill, grab up some soap and warm water to rinse off any remaining ashy debris.

Happy Grilling! (See? That wasn’t so bad.)
