DIY Baseboard Repair

Damage to your baseboards are unavoidable—no matter the level of caution one exercises. The boards can easily get damaged from moving furniture around the house or from day-to-day living. There is a simple solution to repair the damage as opposed to purchasing a replacement board.

You may decide to paint over the damage, but that is not the best way to approach the problem. The most practical solution is to use the filling plaster used on dry walls. Fill in the chipped areas with the plaster, and use a hard flat object to shape it, so it matches the entire board. Leave it to dry and repeat the process a few more times. Once it dries, smooth it out by using sandpaper, and afterwards, apply a new coat of paint that resembles the color of the baseboard.
