Don’t let the “hand-wash only” tag deter you away from buying another article of clothing. Nope, you’re way too savvy to turn down that deal again. Sorry washer and dryer, to get the deed done, a salad spinner is all you need. While you won’t be able to pile in a huge load of laundry, the salad spinner is the perfect, multipurpose kitchen accessory; you can use it to clean your delicate items, personal garments, and anything that requires hand washing. Of course, if you do use your salad spinner for, well, salad, make sure to wash it out in between uses. Fill up the bowl with warm water, and add a little bit of soap into the mix—laundry detergent, baby shampoo, and so forth will work just fine. Toss in your article of clothing into the basket, swish it around with your hands, and let it soak. Now comes the fun part: spin that salad spinner for some good ole cleaning action. Dump out the soapy water, fill it up again with clean water (do this a couple of times), and spin, spin, spin. If you opt out of spinning, just use your hands to swish the clothing in the basket. When the water is clear, it’s time to dry. Give your salad spinner a few more spins until your clothing is lightly damp. Grab it out, and hang up your garments to dry. You practically have yourself a washing machine and clothes dryer all in one. Nonetheless, it’s a practical solution if the power goes out or when you’re camping. Go ahead and give it a whirl.
