How to Easily Make a Pumpkin Disco Ball Light

Disco balls and Halloween parties…need I say more? Making a disco ball light out of a pumpkin is the coolest thing I’ve seen this year for pumpkins. What I love most is how simple it is to make. This idea is so illuminating, you could even get away with the funky light centerpiece for Thanksgiving and the rest of your autumn festivities.

YouTuber DaveHax shows you how it’s done in the video below. You start off as you usually would if you were to carve a pumpkin the traditional way: cut off the top and clean out the pumpkin guts. Things are about to get crazy. Grab out your #2 Phillips head screwdriver, or any screwdriver for that matter, and begin poking holes in your hollowed out pumpkin—around the whole entire thing in random order (that’s the crazy going on here). If you want to speed up the process, go ahead and use a hand power drill to get the job done. For all things awesome, please don’t forget to make some holes in your pumpkin lid! DaveHax then shows you how to hang your disco pumpkin securely by tying some knots within the pumpkin with thick string or cord.

Finally, he pops a bright flashlight with strobe capabilities—a ThruNite TN 12 flashlight. The name sounds epic and it appears to give off a ton of light in the video, but at the end of the day it is a flashlight. If you don’t have a flashlight with strobe effects, I’m sure any flashlight will do, or heck, pop a battery-operated strobe light right in there. Who’s gonna know the difference? Case closed.

Hang up your pumpkin in your living room, garage, or on a tree branch and give it a whirl. You just made an epic pumpkin disco ball.

Would you ever give this a try?

Because it’s just not a party without a pumpkin disco ball.
