How to Turn Your Cordless Drill Into a Powered Scrub Brush

Scrub brush. It says it all in the name. You’re scrubbing until you can’t feel your elbows anymore, your back kills, and your bathtub grout still looks like it did before you took on such a task. Ugh, no more of that is what I say. If you can speed up the cleaning process, why not take advantage of the hacks of the world, especially when your beloved drill is involved?

Now you can, by making a super easy scrub brush attachment for your cordless drill. Instead of scrubbing yourself into arthritis, your drill does all of the dirty work while making it kinda, sorta fun. Whether you’re cleaning tile grout, the bathtub, the kitchen sinks, pots and pans, or anywhere else that needs some scrubbing action, your powered scrub brush is here to the rescue.

In the video below, Build.com shows you how to make a scrub brush attachment for your drill. It’s a very simple process that will save you a boatload of time in the long run.

All you need to find yourself is a plastic scrub brush, and cut off the handle with a reciprocating saw or something along those lines. With the bristle side facing downward, drill a hole right in the center of your scrub brush. Then, from the bristle side facing towards you, insert a long machine bolt in the drilled hole with the shank on top. Next, tighten a nut on the backside of the brush, pop on your drill with the bolt, and you’re good to go. It’s probably a good idea to run your drill on a medium speed during any scrubbing action. Go ahead and try it out—you can always secure another nut by the head of the brush if you notice it pops off your drill while you scrub.

Depending on what you’re cleaning, you could make a super powerful cleaning paste with baking soda and vinegar to really clean and sanitize.

No more cleaning excuses allowed. No more elbow grease required.
