You’ll first want to cut along the vertical, outer seam on a pant leg and open up the jeans flat with the pockets facing upward. Make sure to cut out the seam, as this is what you’ll use to tie up the roll-up holders.
Then, play around the placement of your wrenches or tools. Eyeoutthere uses the preexisting pockets to hold smaller wrenches. Once you figure out the placement, it’s time to draw up where you want your wrenches to go with a fabric pencil. Cut your jeans vertically in half and also across the pant legs—leaving enough bottom fabric to create a pocket.
Now it’s time to bust out the sewing machine. Simply fold the pant leg over to create a diagonal pocket, sew along the bottom of the crease and then begin sewing vertical compartments so each wrench has its own space. You’ll also want to do this same technique to the preexisting pockets. Make sure to sew up any exposed cut seams to increase durability.
Then, apply this same method to your other jean half to create your other holder for a complete wrench rollup set. Also, if your jean holders feel too thin, you can always sew more material on the backside to reinforce it.
Finally, cut your pant seam to length, roll-up your wrench holders and you’re good to go on your merry way.
