Stop Grease Splatters and Lingering Odors with a Splatter Screen

When you’re cooking food in a skillet, you’re bound to have popping oil droplets make their way to your stovetop’s surface accompanied by lingering odors of said smelly (but delicious) food for hours on end. After a while, the lingering aroma of your cooked dish permeates everything and eventually gets an icky smell that won’t go away. Splattering oil droplets smear all over your stove—glistening like it’s the New Year—taking forever clean up. To help combat these two problems, a splatter screen to fit on your pan may just be the trick you’re looking for.

Emma Christensen over at TheKitchn, reviewed The Odor-Absorbing Splatter Screen and put it to the test. She was pleasantly surprised by how well the screen absorbed cooking odors and helped prevent splatters. With a carbon layer between two layers of wire mesh, not only is the splatter screen effective at absorbing odors, it’s dishwasher safe too.

I didn’t realize splatter screens could serve as a dual purpose not only in preventing grease droplets, but getting rid of odors. While the screen certainly won’t make your kitchen odorless, it’ll definitely help so you don’t have lingering food aroma for days. This is especially useful if you don’t have a range hood to help combat these two cooking problems in the kitchen.
