Turn a Refurbished Keg into a Portable BBQ Grill

We’ve discussed making a BBQ grill out of an old washing machine, but did you know you can make a stainless steel grill out of a keg?

It’s a perfect DIY project because it won’t rust, and is the perfect size for a BBQ. The trickiest part of it all is cutting the keg in half and the welding aspect of this project—such as the legs. Once you get that part down, you’re in the clear. Add hinges, a wooden handle, top it off with mesh and a grill, and you’re one step closer to BBQ deliciousness.

Now, before you go out and decide to rig up the keg, it’s super important to know kegs are private property of their manufacturers. So you can’t just grab up a keg and hack away – essentially you’re just paying for the brew. To get around this, call up your local brewery or company that sells kegs and see about purchasing a used one for a discount.
