Turn an Old Gas Grill into a Pizza Oven with 8 Firebricks

You can never go wrong with a pizza oven, ever. While there are a ton of various DIY projects out there to make one in your backyard, they’re often time-consuming and expensive endeavors. When I came across this imgur post from redditor masspromo, I was super excited to share with you guys just how easy and inexpensive you can make a legit pizza oven.

You simply add 8 firebricks on top of your gas grill—it’s that simple, no catch, no anything, just delicious pizza.

masspromo shares:

I just added a few refractory bricks to the old grill. These absorb and hold the heat from the grill. Once I get these bricks up to temp it will last a long time.

It’s worth noting that masspromo can get his makeshift pizza oven anywhere from 850-900°F thanks to the bricks--the perfect temps for pizza and flatbread. Hit down the hood, and along with those hot bricks, you have a legit pizza oven.

Since the bricks are roughly textured, it's easy enough to pop on a cheap pizza stone to make it a breeze to slide your pizza on and off the grill with your pizza peel.

If you’re feeling a little wild at your pizza party, you can even add small pieces of wood for a fired smoky flavor—at least that’s what this clever redditor does.

Don’t have a gas grill? You can easily rig a pizza oven up right in your oven for $5, which is an awesome alternative on the cheap.

You may now pizza.
