Turn on Hot Water Before Starting Your Dishwasher

You wouldn’t jump in a cold shower right off the bat, so stop (essentially) doing that to your dishwasher. People have asked if running hot water before beginning a dishwasher cycle really matters, and it does. Besides detergent and the sprayer arm, your dishwasher requires hot water to optimize in its performance—ultimately leading to cleaner dishes. Before you turn on your dishwasher, begin by running hot water through your sink faucet. If you don’t do this from the get go, you’re filling the basin up with cold to lukewarm water. By running hot water for a few seconds, your dishwasher cycle will be prepped to begin with a higher water temperature, instead of wasting the first part of its cycle with cold/lukewarm water.
