Hello, I pulled the cover off my igniter on my gas dryer, and the flame will ignite for about 5-10 minutes and then goes out.

I’m at a customers home, not sure what is going on with this dryer. It’s get no power. I have tested the thermistor NTC, thermal fuse, heater fuse, high limit thermostat, cycling thermostat, and 220 ac outlet, circuit breaker, and door switch… still no power

My dryer runs and heats up as expected in timed modes. However, in REGULAR mode (or automatic mode), it runs normal too, but the heat stops “heating” after about 5 minutes of being turned on. The Dryer LED indicator still shows it is drying with heat. It hasn’t even entered the cool mode yet. The clothes do not dry completely.

I have replaced the 4″ vent duct with a new clean duct. I cleaned and vacuumed the inside of the dryer too, including internal duct parts. Air blasted the blower blades. I removed the plastic filter housing and pressure washed the insides perfectly clean. Air flow is very plentiful. Looks brand new. Since I do HVAC as a living, I checked the following components: Radiant sensor, Thermostat (gas flame), Thermal fuse, Thermistor and Thermostat (dryer side). I cleaned all of them properly.

My conclusion is, that the thermistor (reading 10K ohms at room temperature) could be bad since I do not know for sure what it is supposed to read at different temperatures and it is a sensor that is directly exposed to the elements inside the dryer. I paid special attention on cleaning it, suspecting that it may have a bi-metal surface in contact with lint and moisture.

My other concern is the two “moisture sensors” (cathodes?). They look clean (and I wiped them down with water and a clean cloth) and I made sure that the blue wires are not loose when re-attaching them. How can two pieces of clean metal go bad? They look like stainless steel. To narrow the problem down, I thought about jumping the two blue wires, by-passing the moisture sensor plates to simulate a constant presence of moisture, but didn’t want to do any possible damage. My second thought was to place a wet sponge securely across the two plates to see if any improvement is noticed during a test run.

Lastly, the unlikely problem could be the electronics within the circuit board.

What do I need to do to positively find out what the problem is so I can fix the dryer?
Your reply is deeply appreciated.
Regards, Patrick Kieran.

Hi, I watched your video on the clogged washer and got as far as taking the dasher out but we can’t get the tub to come out. Do you have any suggestions?

Machine is 27 years old but has run fine until now. I’ve replaced the coils and checked for continuity on high end thermostat and the cycling thermostat. Blower is working fine and we do not have a vent obstruction. Dryer starts normally, igniter heats up and flame runs about 8 seconds. Igniter cycles intermitantly but with the same short burn time. Timer does not advance in dry cycles but does work in “less dry” period at the end of a cycle. I’m thinking the burner shutting off prematurely is causing the timer not to advance, but I’m at a loss as to why that is.

Good morning. I saw your video on how to release the drain catch on a Maytag front load washer, but my model does not have a separate front panel. Its one complete front door panel so I’m wondering how I can go about resolving this error. Please note that the door is also closed and I have been unable to open. Thanks.

My washer flashes the FH error code and It also has a little water leaking out of the front door. I’m not sure what I need, to fix this. I’ve found a lot of videos stating it’s different things.

We moved fridge to new home. I plugged it in before I knew there was a ground wire that needed to be connected. i heard a zap when I plugged it in. Now the fridge runs but does not get cold. I think I might have shorted something out. Is there a part I can replace?

We watched a few of your videos and have done all of this:
replaced water filter
water comes out of fridge just fine
no ice or water in ice cube trays
bar is not stuck
ice is not stuck in the blue catch bin preventing new ice from being made
water pressure is low where we live, but enough to run fridge
fridge temperature is at 36 which is cool enough, I think you said 38 or cooler
it was literally working perfect 1 day ago, and now just nothing

there is nowhere to run the jumper wire to run the simulation on the ice maker like he talks about in one of the diagnostic videos

We bought this fridge because it was “made in america” and have already had a couple problems with it! Of course now we are out of the warranty! My husband is very handy, so we will order the part from you if we can diagnose it. It just seems like there is no water getting to the tray and none of your videos address this problem, they all talk about there being ice but not ejecting.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! We are very thankful for your help so far!

I changed the duck bill drain per you video (it was stopped up) and installed the new pea trap drain with no problem yesterday. I didn’t have time to get the ice out of the bottom till today..just finished doing that..I still had water on the floor this afternoon. Could it be because I didn’t get the ice out till today or am I frozen somewhere else?? I can see a frozen trickle of ice in the back right corner of the freezer. Thought about using a hairdryer in that area but I’m not sure if I should.

NOTE: I placed two black lines on my tub and agitator to observe individual movement.

Initial observations of the Problem:

My top load washer “roared” in either the rinse/spin and completed the complete cycle. (I should have paid better attention to detail.) In the 2nd rinse the washer stopped with water in the tub. I noticed a burning smell and the motor went into thermal shutdown. As I removed the V-belt I noticed much black rubber from the belt( V-belt track was cut). The water pump pulley spun with great difficulty. When I tested the transmission via spinning the transmission pulley counter clockwise (CCW) the tub spun CCW. When I spun the transmission pulley clockwise (CW) the agitator moved CW, however I don’t know it is agitating since I’m doing this task myself.

I believe the water pump pulley bearing cause a lockup such that the V-belt burned rubber. The electric motor recovered from thermal shutdown and turned on after allowing it to cool and with the V-belt removed.

Questions:

1) If the transmission pulley is spun CW what should be seen? Should the agitator spin around the 360 degrees? Would the agitator spin “X” degrees and then restart?

2) Could there be something else wrong with the agitator if it spins and doesn’t agitate?

3) What is the best way to check thrust bearing when the pulley is all black and I don’t see the “markers” the new translucent transmission pulleys contain?

4) Is it possible to just replace the water pump bearing?

Summary:

I know the belt and water pump need fixing or replacing. Questions #1and #2 are the most important since if the transmission is smoked there is a big cost. If you can provide answers to the all questions great?

Thanks in advance,

JP

Hello

The washer will fill with water just fine but when it starts to wash sometimes it wont start the cycle and then sometimes it will quit in the cycle and it will start a buzzing noise. This will happen in the spin and drain cycles also. Some times you can unplug it from the wall and it will start back up. And sometimes I can tilt the whole machine and it will start back up.
This washer is maybe 5 years old and ever since it was new it would get off balance easily and you will have to rearrange the load. Our old one was over 35 years old Maytag and we never experience problems like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Cliff

My Maytag refridgerator quit making ice. It is a French door freezer on bottom style. The water dispensor still works. Thanks to your videos I was able to take out the icemaker and found that there were some ice cubes in it. However they were small and some were almost non existent. I didn’t see any ice jams or froze up lines. We have had the fridge for a little over a year and had no problems. It did this last weekend and messed with it and got it going. But this fix lasted about 3 days. What should i look for next?
Thanks,
Wade

Washer was making a loud squeaking noise and then stopped. Washer will fill up with water but then will do nothing. I love the videos but I have not found that addresses a washer that does not spin at all.

I can dispense water but not ice. I took the ice maker out and found a couple ice cubes in the forms and some empty ones. It dropped one ice cube the other day. I couldn’t find an ice blockage anywhere. How do I know if I need a new ice maker , valve, or other part?

I have a maytag side by side fridge with ice maker and water dispenser in the door that worked perfect. Until I removed the doors to transport it to another location. When I placed the doors back on I have no water or ice dispenser. it still makes ice. there is power going to the door panel because the lights are on. When you push the button for ice nothing happens the auger motor does not turn or the trap door for the ice does not open. the same when you push the button for the water nothing happens. I check for power going to the switch. I have power at the switch and the power goes to the mother board but does not go any father then that. is it possiable that the board burnt out just like that. any help you can give me would be appricated thank you

Thanks for the great video on fixing the leaking water in the may tag refrigerator. Prior to seeing your video I removed the rear panel looking for a blockage in the drain. I removed the black nipple and found a small white rubber piece inside. I’ve removed it but was wondering if I should put it back? Thanks again for the video!

The bottom freezer compartment has been accumulating ice on compartment floor. Water frequently pools on the kitchen floor. After watching your video, I removed the back panel and inspected the duck bill foot valve (grommet). It was dry. No accumulated gunk inside. The drain pan designed to catch drain water from the drain tube w/ grommet was also dry. Did not look like water had been there for a long time if ever. The refrigerator is just over three years old. This problem has been with us for at least a year. It appears there is a stoppage in the drain tube above the grommet. Any suggestions?
Thank you

I have the above Model refrigerator freezer and have been experiencing the ice up problem. I would like to know if the P-Trap kit is available for my model. If so, is it your opinion that this would solve the problem, and what is the cost of the kit?
Thanks!

My fridge stopped working after our neutral line in the house was severed blowing most appliances not on protectors. I replaced the control board hoping it would fix it like my stove but not so.
Reprogramed to code 12 and the board is working correctly fan comes on but make a chugging sound (did that when it worked right) but no compressor. I looked at the wiring diagram and see a relay for the compressor, could this be it or is there another fuse or issue I may have. How do I trouble shoot this from here? Or is my fridge beyond repair?

It made 1-2 trays , maybe smaller, after being turned on after vacation. No more. Took icemaker out (thanks to your video).
There were 2or 3 of the back receptacles in the mold that had a little ice in them. I cleaned them out, reinstalled icemaker.
I also replaced the water supply line with a new one and hooked it to a direct water inlet valve so that it would have plenty of water pressure. Didn’t help. Still no water being supplied into mold. Supply tube into mold not iced up. Any ideas? This refrigerator is 1yr. 9mos. old
