My Maytag won't agitate, and after a few minutes in cycle it makes a squealing noise like cars do when they have a loose belt, and then I can smell burning rubber. It does everything else fine.

DOES NOT agitate
Makes low humming noise
Eventually starts making squealing noise like a loose car fan belt
Eventually burning rubber smell appears
DOES spin
DOES drain/fill water

[edit] The belts look ok, although the one to the big pulley seems loose? I can rotate the big central pulley about half a rotation either way before the pulley ‘catches’, and then the belt starts to slide.
