The ice maker door was clicking. I put a new HV circuit board in the back of the fridge and that stopped the ice maker noise. Now the front panel is flashing PE0000. The compressor sounds like it is always running. The front will let me dispense water, but nothing else. It will not respond to any button trying to reprogram it. I tried the Door alarm button and held it for a while and nothing. tried the Water button and held it for a while and nothing. When I push the + Or – on the refrigerator side the display will show ICE or H20 in the display. but nothing else will respond.

Hello
I am assuming you installed the HV board # 67006389. If you are absolutely sure you are not able to program the unit through the display per the instructions given on page #3 below. The next step would be to unplug the unit for FIVE MINUTES and let the board reset. Try to program the board again per the instructions. If you are still unable to program it then replace the #67006294 BOARD, L.V . We replace the HV boards every day and have not had one issue with programming them. So if you cannot program it with the instructions , you have no other option except to replace the #67006294 BOARD.

What steps do I use to program the fridge starting with holding the water button and then the _ button. But when I use the code 0304 is did not seem to take it. how do I enter the code and end the programing or do I need another code now I have a new HV board. Can you look up and make sure I have the right code. Model Number afi2538aes Serial Number 10579239jj
  • First, make sure you are using p# W10890094. This is the part for the control board that your unit needs. If your not using this part, the code will not work. The code can not be looked up. IT will be the code on the model sticker on the inside of the unit. Below are the steps to program the new board. Programming Mode: NOTE: The Program Code is located on the Serial Plate on this unit after the word Code. 1. Press and hold the Door Alarm Keypad . 2. Press and hold Freezer Temperature Down Keypad. 3. Release the Door Alarm Keypad and wait 3 seconds. 4. The control will display PE to indicate the programming mode. 5. Entry is confirmed by pressing the Freezer Temperature Down Keypad once more. 6. The control will display the current Program CODE. This value should be validated with the Program CODE printed on the unit serial plate. NOTE: If the Program CODE is correct, the Programming Mode is exited by pressing Door Alarm Keypad for 3 seconds. 7. Press the Refrigerator Temperature UP Keypad or Refrigerator Down Keypad to change the digit value with each key press. 8. The decimal point indicates the selecteddigit. Press the Freezer Temperature UP Keypad to select the next digit. 9. Once the desired Program CODE is entered, press and hold the Freezer Temperature DOWN Keypad until the Program CODE begins flashing indicating it has been saved. NOTE:If you attempt to enter an invalid Program CODE the control will not save the new code, but will beep. (The unit will NOT run with a Program CODE of 0000).Once the Program CODE has been saved the Programming Mode is exited by pressing any key. If the new code is incorrect this process should be repeated. The Programming mode can be exited at any time by pressing Door Alarm key for 3 seconds or will exit if unattended for four minutes.

The original part was not the same number as you gave me. The circuit board shows # Maytag 12920704. the new part was Maytag W10310240A
  • Sounds like you have the wrong control. From looking up the model number you provided, the contol board your unit needs is p# W10890094

Hello
It sounds like your entering in the wrong programming code. Go to page #3 in the technical service guide link below. It will take you step by step on the programming code for your PE000 error. Matt Ace technician

Not the wrong code. see the quote from the first question. “The front will let me dispense water, but nothing else. It will not respond to any button trying to reprogram it. I tried the Door alarm button and held it for a while and nothing. tried the Water button and held it for a while and nothing.” No matter what I do it will not take anything. I can push any of the buttons that are supposed to allow me to even start to put any code in. And they will not let me even put in a wrong code. I push the button and nothing at all happens it still flashes
