Ironing to me is a lot like wrapping gifts – it just doesn’t work, I get frustrated, and end up with a crinkled mess. See? Those things do go hand-in-hand.

While I don’t have the magic tricks to become an ironing pro or gift wrapper-er at that, I did find a cool video tip from Household Hacker that will make ironing a less tedious process by speeding things up.

By the way, you can’t complain here, I’m trying to make life simpler for all of you guys out there. All you need is aluminum foil, an ironing board, and of course, your iron.

Go ahead and tear off your iron board cover, and place a long sheet of aluminum foil on top, covering the length of your board. With the flat sheet of foil in place, put the cover back on, and iron in those crisp pant-leg creases you’ve been dreaming about.

Since aluminum foil reflects heat, the video suggests you’ll be able to even out both sides of your clothing all at once—without having to do the multiple flips. So you’re pretty much cutting your time in half.

This trick probably works best for thinner materials as opposed to big thick fabrics. But still, if you need to quickly iron a dress shirt or pants, this simple trick is a big time saver.

Ps. The video above has some other awesome aluminum tips worth checking out, too!
