Stretch Out Brand New Shoes in the Freezer

Tight shoes are uncomfortable. Whether you suffer from blisters, foot cramps, or chaffing to break in those new shoes—that suffering ends today. Take those bad boys off, grab yourself a couple sealable plastic bags filled with water, and get ready to make magic happen in your freezer.

By placing the plastic bag of water in the toe of your shoes, the expansion from the frozen water will expand, giving you the extra stretch you need.

The tip comes from weblog, Better Remade. You simply fill up a plastic bag half-way up, remove the air, stuff it in your shoes, and stick ‘em in the freezer. Of course, over-stuffing isn’t recommended as this could potentially tear your shoes from the expansion, and you also don’t want to risk ripping the baggie. If you’re looking for an extra stretch, repeat the process again for another night.

It’s also super important to NOT let the bags defrost in your shoes as it could potentially damage them from getting wet. As Better Remade points out, to remove the frozen bags, simply wiggle or break them out with the end of a utensil.
