Clean Potatoes in the Dishwasher for Easier Holiday Dinners

If you have tons of potatoes to feed to your guests this upcoming holiday season, it may pay off to use your dishwasher to clean them off. Instead of wasting a bunch of valuable time and water, your dishwasher can get the job done more efficiently so you can finish doing what you need to do before the party begins. It’s a super easy trick, and you’ll wonder why you haven’t thought of it before. Begin by placing your unpeeled potatoes on the top rack of your dishwasher. You’ll want to run your dishwasher on the rinse cycle only with no detergent. That’s it. If you are unable to control the temperature of your dishwasher, the potatoes may slightly be steamed, but you can go ahead and cook them like you regularly would. The dishwasher method works the best if you’re going to bake or boil the potatoes for mashed or baked potatoes. Since the heat from the dishwasher can slightly steam them, this method does not work so much if you’re making French fries or something along those lines. Though, if you were to run your dishwasher after everyone is done taking a shower without much hot water left, that could do the trick of alleviating the warmer temperatures from your dishwasher. Of course, you’ll want to wash the potatoes the day you plan on cooking them.
