Make Homemade Strawberry Jam in Minutes with Your Microwave

The traditional way of making jam is a time-consuming process that has some technicality to it that most of us would rather not bother with. While you can purchase a good ole jar of the stuff, why not make your own without the preservatives? Not only that, but you could make it with organic ingredients, too. Plus, if you have leftover fruit, making your own jam in a fool-proof and easy method—using your microwave (psst… or you could always make freezer jam). One Pot Chef shows you exactly how to whip up some strawberry jam in a snap. It’s a matter of combining freshly chopped strawberries, sugar, a squeeze of a fresh lemon, and nuking it in the microwave for 4 minutes. Then, stir your delicious concoction up, and stick it back in for 15 more minutes. While your jam is cooking, One Pot Chef suggests placing a small plate inside of your freezer—this is to check if the jam is set and good to go. Once the 15 minutes are up, add a dollop of jam on your frozen plate and toss it back in the freezer for a few more minutes. Afterwards, wipe your finger through the jam, and if it doesn’t ooze back together, your jam is finished and ready to be jarred. Spoon in your homemade strawberry jam into a sterilized jar, allow it to cool completely (it will thicken as it cools), and seal it up with a lid. If you’re not a fan of chunky fruit, go ahead and make jelly by straining it out. It’s really as easy as that. As One Pot Chef suggests, you can use any fruit you’d like—raspberries, blueberries, blackberries—your possibilities are endless (as always)!
