Make Reusable Color Catching Sheets with 3 Ingredients

If you’re not too keen about sorting your lights and darks, a color catching laundry sheet may just be the washing machine miracle you have been looking for. These color catchers are amazing to use in the wash as they capture loose dyes, preventing the dyes to bleed onto your other clothing. Not only can you mix lights and darks together, but you also save money by combining what would otherwise be half loads of laundry. Hello savings. The only downside of these truly lifesaving catchers is they are mighty expensive since you can only get 1 use out of them. That’s why we’re here—to make your life convenient and awesome stuff like this affordable. You can make your own color catching laundry sheets that are reusable and actually work for cheap. It seems too good to be true, but it really isn’t—you only need 3 ingredients:

  • wash cloths / white fabric / or an old towel (cut into squares)
  • hot water
  • and washing soda (sometimes known as soda ash)

If you think the ingredients are simple, the process is even easier. All you have to do is dissolve some washing soda in hot water, soak the wash cloths in the solution and hang them up to dry.  Then, when it comes to laundry time, just toss a color catching sheet right into your washing machine. You can only get 1 use per sheet. To make your sheets reusable, simply take your square cloth and soak it again in the washing soda and water solution. That’s all there is to it. Wasn’t that easy? Stop wasting, start DIYing—it really will save you money for something so simple and cheap (and actually works).
