Makeover Your Dishwasher to Look Like “Built-in” Cabinetry

A complete kitchen renovation is often expensive, which is fine if you have the budget for it, but if you’re looking to spice your area up with little cost, look no further. You can get away with covering the front panel of your dishwasher to be hidden amongst your cabinets.

Brenda from weblog Cottage4C shares how she transformed her dishwasher with a little DIY to blend in with her cabinets. It’s a straightforward process that offers an elegant look. You wouldn’t even know a dishwasher is in her kitchen!

To make your own dishwasher blend in, grab up paneling that best matches your cabinets. Brenda bought beadboard paneling for the front of her dishwasher. Of course, you’ll want to measure the front door for proper dimensions first. Then, glue your panel with Epoxy glue. Depending on your setup, you may opt in for trim and paint to blend your panel to look like your cabinets. So far, pretty simple.

So what about the top control panel? Brenda and her husband came up with a simple solution—a faux drawer with bifold hinges. With a wood slab glued to the top, and screws into the hollow piece of the door handle, this allows complete functional access the dishwasher controls to lift up. Then, buy hardware and paint it accordingly to match your kitchen décor. Make sure to lift up the faux drawer while running the dishwasher to allow it to vent.
