Meet Ulo: The Owl-Shaped Security Camera

Although several security cameras are made to remain hidden or maybe out of the way, a brand new security camera known as Ulo is designed to be noticed. This tiny camera has an owl-shaped design. No, don’t halt out the bird feeder— Ulo is not an owl, it only looks like one. However, its awesome appearance will bewilder burglars as it is a security camera.

Ulo has a two-way mirror that hides the night vision-capable motion sensor and camera. Not only that, but the Ulo security camera also has two fairly huge LCD displays for eyes, which are mainly designed to communicate the status of device. For instance, if it appears tired, you are expected to change the batteries. If somebody takes a snap from the app, it will blink, and if somebody is watching the live stream, it will squint.

Additionally, however, Ulo is a pretty typical security camera. It lets operators live stream a video feed to their iOS or Android device and can capture recording in either night vision or standard vision. Ulo also has an alert setting that enable the users to get a GIF every time the device notices actions when the user is far away.

The Ulo camera communicates using its speakers that are built-in and is waterproof so it can be used outside. Interesting enough, Ulo appears sad when it is raining.

The Ulo battery is designed to last up to seven days. However, it can stay plugged in all of the time. The battery may come in handy, but, bear in mind the Ulo camera is rated for outdoor usage as well--in temperatures between 14 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

As for now, the Ulo camera has raised more than $1.3 million on Kickstarter, considerably more than $223,119 which was the funding goal. Those attracted to the device will have to pledge about $160, with shipping likely for November 2016.
