What to Consider when You Redo Your Bathroom

Want to change out your outdated bathroom for something unique that won’t break the bank? These following tips come from HGTV, with the results you can count on as being something totally awesome.

A mid-range bathroom remodel can cost as much as $10,000 depending on what you want to accomplish. A tip from remodeling companies stresses that if you splurge on one or two major items, you should go middle of the road or cheaper with things that don’t really matter.

Your middle of the road remodel might be putting a toilet, a new tub with a surround, finding a cool vanity and integrating a double sink, maybe recessing a medicine cabinet, and adding new ceramic tile flooring.

The construction workers who replace your tub and toilet or install ceiling lights and plumb the shower can run up your budget. Pick and choose which areas you can work on yourself and which areas need a professional. Plumbing and electrical wiring, for example, require professionals. You can do the demolishing, sheet rocking, texturing, tiling and painting yourself.

Save costs by keeping the same floor plan that you have now. Using your existing floor plan will cut down on remodeling costs. If you want that gorgeous glass sink installed on top of the vanity, budget less for the actual vanity.

Try searching for unique vanities at second hand or antique stores. One upward thinking homeowner found a dresser that had unique carvings and details. She purchased it for $100, took it home, stripped off the finish, painted it white and installed her glass sink on the top. It is one-of-a-kind awesome.

You can do anything you want in a bathroom if you have enough imagination. If you would rather, you can take your $10,000 and have someone else do it all. We vote for do-it-yourself.
