Wrap Block Cheese in Wax Paper to Stay Fresher Longer

Whether you have store-bought cheese or made a mean delicious cheese ball out of soaked cashews, proper storage is everything especially when it’s time to pop it in the refrigerator.

So instead of suffocating the cheddar with a plastic bag, use wax paper instead. Oddly enough, the lack of air is really bad for cheese, which is counterintuitive—at least it is for me!

This fancy tip comes from reddit user, sfled. Go ahead and wrap the blocked stuff in wax paper and place it in a plastic storage bag. Loosely fold over the plastic storage a few times around the cheese, and pop the block right in the fridge of your designated cheese section. This solves the problem of your expensive yumminess drying out and keeps it from getting moldy so quickly.

Another helpful hint is to label the plastic storage bag with the date and type of cheese you have hiding in there—especially if you’re a cheese connoisseur. This way, you have a good idea when it needs to be eaten and doesn’t go to waste.
