When working properly, a refrigerator is a quiet appliance, without considering the usual gentle humming sound that it usually produces to assure you that it's healthy and active. 1) Check the Condenser Fan
Unplug your refrigerator to get to the condenser fan. Using a soft brush, clean between the fan blades thoroughly to remove all the debris that is piled up. If that doesn’t work, you may have to replace the motor.
2) Check the Defrost Timer
If the noise is coming from the compressor, the only option is to replace the whole component. It’s imperative that you diagnose the source of the noise correctly because the Defrost Timer can be an expensive replacement.
