How to Repair a Noisy Refrigerator Appliance

The most common problem likely to affect the refrigerator is a nagging noise emanating from this crucial appliance. This noise can either be caused by the evaporator fan motor within the freezer component, the compressor below the fridge, or the condenser fan motor.

To repair the condenser fan motor, one is required to detach the mounting screws, pluck out the fan motor, and replace it by installing a new one that functions properly. If the noise still persists, especially when one opens the freezer component, then it could be the evaporator fan motor that is causing the noise.

This is relatively easier to repair as one begins by unscrewing the back cover of the freezer and unplugging all the connecting wires. A simple screw or nut driver will come in handy for this task. Then one simply replaces the evaporator fan by installing a new one to get rid of the noise.

The solution to a noisy compressor is simply replacing the entire refrigerator as the cost and repair often exceeds the value of your fridge if there is a problem.
