Check out Sony’s new remote controller which comes with a low-power e-ink display. The screen only displays the buttons you need to operate your sound system, TV, air conditioner and lighting systems. The remote dubbed “Huis” has a host of advantages over traditional universal remotes with LCD buttons and displays. In fact, the e-ink remote can stay on for long periods without consuming power. Sony says the remote can last for a whole month on a single charge.
The best thing about this remote control is that you can customize only the button layout for each of your devices such that only controls for functions you use mostly are displayed. You can do this on the remote itself or via a computer companion app that supports additional sharing and downloading of additional configurations. The remote joins a fitness tracker that uses an e-ink display and an e-ink watch as Sony continues to diversify the e-ink platform. The remote retails at $245.
