Tips to Help Balance A Front-Load Washer

A front-loader washing machine can be unbalanced during a wash cycle, causing it to make loud or strange noises, or to shake and vibrate. Other indications of an unbalanced washer include the inability to spin or drain. An unbalanced washer can be as a result of the way your laundry is positioned inside the drum during the wash cycle. It is important to balance your front-loader to avoid damage to interior components.

Below are some tips on loading and distributing the Laundry:

- Manually reorganize the load within the drum.

- Add more laundry to the wash. A single, bulky item can cause the imbalance. Adding more items can help distribute the load.

- Do not overload your front-load washing machine. You can wash more clothes in a front-loader than you can in a top-loader, so ensure you don’t overstuff the drum for this reason.

- Release the locknuts on the washer legs with an adjustable wrench.

- Lower the washer’s feet by turning it anticlockwise, or elevate by turning the adjustable wrench clockwise. The bubble will float in the glass tube as you adjust the washer’s feet.

- After you’ve adjusted the feet, rock the washer from back to front and side to side. If the washer does not rock, tighten the lock nuts once more and lock the washer’s feet in place.
