This is totally not allowed on any refrigerator. This will not only void any mfg warranty but it also will void ul rating for safety. This kit does nothing more than keep the start winding energized all the time which is not suppose to be. This is not a good repair fix for the consumer. RSM from WPL watched this with me and was shocked to see this happen

Thank you for your input on this video, we really appreciate your feedback. I understand your concern about our choice to use a third party part, rather than an OEM Whirlpool part for this repair, and I would like to clear this up.

You are correct that installing non Whirlpool parts into a Whirlpool appliance will void the warranty, however this appliance was long out of warranty so the third party Supco part saved the customer a lot of money while still providing a high quality part. We do use ONLY OEM parts when we repair an appliance still under warranty. We are a Whirlpool Authorized Factory PSP Dealer.

As for your issue about this relay kit: Joel Graham, Product Manager at Supco had this to say “The RCO410 does not damage the start windings. These are myths spread by other manufacturers to sell their product by creating doubt.”

If you would like to contact Joel to discuss this further he can be reached at jgraham@supco.com

Thank you again for your concerns.
