Organize Your Hardware with Muffin Tins During Your Appliance Repairs

Sometimes our appliance repair videos have a ton of tiny screws, washers and other hardware items during the breakdown that can easily get lost, misplaced or decide to magically disappear (yes, they seem to have a mind of their own).

We adapted an awesome idea from Family Handyman. This DIY website shows you how to install a muffin tin that swivels underneath your work area using a flat head machine screw sandwiched between a couple fender washers, keeping your hardware in your garage super organized. While installing a muffin tin is a great solution for your workshop organization, why not use a plain ole muffin tin by itself?

So the next time you are fixing your appliance while watching our videos, you can keep super organized without the worry of your hardware being mixed in with other similar-looking pieces. We bet you could even take a magic erase marker and label above each muffin-holder, or stick small pieces of labeled paper at the bottom of the tins so you know what small pieces pertain to; for example, you’d label an individual muffin container “front panel” and place all of the front panel screws in one, organized fashion—and so forth.

Repairing an appliance doesn’t have to be an unorganized mess. Keep organized with a muffin tin (or even an ice cube tray)…it couldn’t be any easier.
