Zap Leftovers with a Wet Paper Towel to Prevent Dryness

So you have some tasty rice from last night’s dinner or perhaps you’re still gnawing on last week’s meal, either way, you have leftovers that need heating up. While everyone knows your oven is the best appliance to warm up leftovers with, you can still have some quality heating time with your microwave. You no longer have to suffer from overly tough or dry food dishes again. The next time you go to nuke your leftovers in the microwave, go ahead and lay a wet (wrung out) paper towel over your dish. The moisture from the paper towel will help steam your food in the midst of those precious few minutes, improving the quality of freshness.  Added bonus: this method also keeps your microwave cleaner. If you’re not into the paper towel thing, simply add a few sprinkles of water to your plate or bowl, as this will also help hydrate your warmed up leftovers, too. Whether you’re reheating a big bowl of rice or some pasta or veggies, adding water to your food before a quick zap in the microwave keeps moisture in, tasting as good as it was last night.
