Hello
If its a constant knocking noise from the compressor, it means either the discharge or suction valve springs are busted and the valve is hitting the interior of the hermetic compressor case. This would mean a new compressor. As far as the freezing food . That could be caused by a number of possibilities 1) Temperature control. 2) Low refrigerant charge. 3) Compressor valves.
