  • The pantry control is most likely faulty. When these fail they cause strange things to happen. No lights, unit not recognizing the doors closing, and water /ice dispenser not working are some of the symptoms of a bad pantry control.

Thanks for the help. When I unplugged the pantry door interfce. All the lights began to work and even the thermister tests functioned and light switches. I left the pantry interface harness unhooked. Then a P0 code began to show. What does that mean? Something about the pantry interface I presume about the harness not plugged in? Does it sound like I need to replace that interface?
  • I think the PO is for power outage. Having the UI unplugged could cause this or other issues. You would need ro replace it.

The pantry control did not correct the problem. When I replaced it the lights still did not come on or the blue pantry control LED either. The unit still will go to PF power failure every few minutes. If I disconnect the pantry control the lights come on. Without that control I can run the diagnostic tests. The show that the left refrigerator door switch is bad. I traded the left and right switches to confirm it. Is this a bad power supply board? When I plug the pantry control in again all the lights won’t work and PF continues every few minutes. It doesn’t matter with or without the new pantry control Any ideas? I Throught that board would fix it. Everything pointed to it.
  • Was the pantry U.I you replaced>? P# WPW10677119 ? Make sure you unplug the refrigerator when you replace the U.I . Then plug it back in. You you replace the U.I without unplugging the unit it will glitch up the main control. If this still does not solve the issue you may have damaged wiring going to the U.I. Check for broken wires inside the refrigerator where the U.I harness moves as the pantry door is opened and closed. i have seen broken wires in that area. One other thing that can cause the P.O display, and the refrigerator turning of and starting back is if the evap fan motor stops. If the fan can not run due ice build up or if the fan motor is faulty , it will cause the P.O. display.

Yes that was the right number. If I didn’t turn off the breaker and it caused a glitch and I remove it and turn off the breaker and reinstall it will it clear the glitch? Thanks for all the help.
  • Yes, you should just be able to turn the breaker of for 10 mins and back on again. You do not need to remove the part. Juat make sure you have the new part in. Hopefully it is just glitched up and this works.

Thanks Brian for the fast response. I tried to reset the control by unplugging it. Still the same. The freezer was iced up and the fan couldn’t turn. I deiced the freezer and left the unit off 30 minutes. Still no lights. Again if I unplug the pantry control I can test the fans and both freezer and refrig fans test ok. The freezer fan will not run in normal operation. It has not went to power failure now as before. The defrost test works ok. Still no lights or the pantry blue LED indicator. Im too tired and too far behind now to test the pantry harness. Could that or something else be the trouble?

Brian, after I submitted this reply above the freezer fan started working but now the interface on the freezer door won’t let me program the temperatures . It just quickly flashes. With the freezer frosted as much as it was it sounds like a defrost problem. Both the heater and the DF sensor are good and come on in the defrost test. Which board controls the defrost? Is it the main board? Could it be the problem? None of the lights work with the pantry board in. When I remove it they do. and I can perform the service tests only with it removed. The unit has not returned to the PF situation since I defrosted it yesterday. The temps are good.
  • The pantry UI flashing and the lights not working unless it is not plugged in sounds like a wiring issue or main control board. How was the frost pattern? Did it look like a full blown defrost issue or was the frost just at the top around the fan? Sounds like the defrost system is good. You could have a bad main control for the defrost issue, but make sure its a defrost issue. There may be a test in the diagnositcs to change the defrost to an 8 hr defrost. I would make this change.

Praise be to Almighty God! After dissembling the pantry I found a broken wire and two others in bad condition. So it was the pantry harness. Thanks Brian and Matt.
