I appreciate your help. But the issue with the washer began only when I touched the dryer.. Can it be that timer in the washer control got damaged or a loose wire Cusing the smell and the machine not to work properly?
  • It is possible that a wire came loose on the timer when you took the panel off. This could also cause your smell. I would check it out and see what you can find.

ok. so i replaced the timer with a new one. i also changed all the belts to the washer. now when i remove the belts the motor will run. when i put the belts back on it will not run and the motor begins to have a burning smell i may also add the when i try to turn the tub by hand it is very hard to turn
  • Sounds like you have either a tied up drain pump bearing, transmission, or tub bearing. Make sure you can move the drain pump pulley freely. Check for signs of a bad bearing. Has it been louder in spin? Signs of water leaking?

i did try to turn it by hand and it was very hard. as soon as i took of the belts the motor did run but when i reconnect the belts to motor freezes up and heats up and gives off a burning smell
  • Could have a weak motor, but usually when something seizes up it causes the motor to,still run and the belts will just slip causing the burning smell. The brake is engaged on this unit so it will be hard to spin the basket. The best way to check it is to spin the pulley on the bottom to release the brake.

so what part do u think i need to replace
  • It’s hard to say. You will need to see if the pulleys are tied up or if the bearing is bad and go from there

well i was able t turn the belts both ways and it moved. when i tried to turn the tub by turning the transmission by hand it was very very hard
  • It could be the bearing, transmission or brake at this point. When the brakes are bad it usually has a brown liquid leaking out of the bottom on the pulley. You can open the brake and check the bearings in sixe the brake. You need a brake tool to do this. The last one of these washers I looked at with this issue needed a transmission.
