it started by squeaking alot. repair guy’s solution: spray wd 40 and saying “see, it’s not sqeaking now”. $75.00 that cost me. within a month noise was back. took it apart. drum roller on right side ground down the little fiber washer but was moving ok. I replaced both drum rollers and washers of course and the damn belt pulley also. worked for a while then eventually started making a grinding noise…due to the the drum hitting the front cowling or whatever it’s called. find metal filings at bottom in front. I replaced the guides (the blue and cork ones) worked well for a while and now it’s grinding again. I can reach inside the machine and lift the drum in front and it moves 1/2 to 1 inch when I push toward the ceiling. I need to figure out how to keep the drum from tilting down in front. I thought of wedging something small under the guides in front to raise them up but don’t know if it would create enough lift to get the drum off of the part it’s grinding on. Any bright ideas are most welcome….other than “get a new dryer”

You are most likely needing to replace the felt seal on the front tumbler assembly. (the part that you riveted the new drum glides on). You may also need to replace the rear seal as well. I have attached the parts breakdown of the tumbler section and the complete job aid/service manual for your exact model.

In response to your answer, I wrote that the front of the drum was grinding against the front frame (that holds the drum guides) causing metal particles to be found at the bottom of the machine. Do you really think replacing the felt piece is going to solve this? The new felt would be ground to nothing in less than a minute. Worthless advice!
  • I apologize .Assuming you have everything installed properly and also if the front tumbler assembly is not worn or damaged having 17 year old seals is absolutely a reason for the drum to ride unevenly. As I cannot see the product and you seem to have corrected everything else causing uneven drum rotation ,there is nothing else that if you cannot see worn or damaged that it would be .I am sorry for your feeling that you received worthless advice. Looking again at your list of corrections on this unit I cannot see anything else in the parts breakdown to cause this continuing issue .
