THE COMPRESSOR TURNS ON FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS THEN MAKES A GROWNING SOUND, THEN CLICKS AND SHUTS OFF. I PULLED OFF THE RELAY AND OVERLOAD. THE RELAY MADE NO NOISE WHEN I SHOOK IT, I ASSUMED IT WAS GOOD. I CHECKED IT WITH MY OHM METER AND IT WAS AROUND 2.6, DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT? ALSO, I PUT MY AMP CLAMP ON THE RED WIRE TO THE COMPRESSOR AND IT WAS PULLING 11 – 12 AMPS BEFORE IT CLICKED OFF. I BELIEVE THE COMPRESSOR IS BAD, ANY GUIDANCE WOULD HELP. THANKS, TODD FROM NY.

As far as the relay 2.6 is a normal OHM reading. If your compressor is short cycling at 12 amps you most likely a locked up compressor. Our technicians keep a URCO410 hard start kit on their trucks and wire it in to verify it is a tied or locked compressor. Here is a link http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/261529143629?lpid=82&chn=ps
