I HAVE A CUSTOMER WITH THIS KITCHENAID DISHWASHER WHERE THERE ARE THREE LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE PANEL WHEN POWER IS SUPPLIED WITH NO RESPONSE TO OPERATOR INPUT OTHER THAN THE OPTIONS BUTTONS. REPLACING THE TOUCH MEMBRANE- PART # W10077793 RESULTED IN THE SAME THREE LIGHTS BEING LIT WITH ONE ADDITIONAL-HEAVY WASH, AND NO RESPONSE TO OPERATOR INPUT. WAS WONDERING IF THE CONTROL BOARD, RIBBON OR INTERCONNECT COULD BE AT FAULT. HAVE NEVER SEEN A CONTROL BOARD AT FAULT FOR THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. HAVE ALWAYS SOLVED THIS PROBLEM AT LEAST TWENTY TIMES BEFORE BY REPLACING THE TOUCH PANEL. THE RIBBON AND INTERCONNECT LOOK LIKE STRAIGHT DATA TRANSFER TO ME.

If you have not done so already, I would reset the unit by turning power off to it for 5 mins. Also, if you did not remove power to the unit when you replaced the touch panel, it could not be recognizing the new part and you need to reset the unit. You can put it into diagnostic mode as well by pressing heated dry – normal – heated dry – normal. This may get it back to normal for you. If this does not work you could have a control board or ribbon cable issue. Did the new control panel come with a new ribbon cable? If not I would start by replacing the ribbon cable. Usually a bad ribbon cable will have visible discoloration on it. If the ribbon cable does not take care of it I would replace the control board.
