Serial # SJ3751348, built in Sept 1999. I cleaned a ton of dust off the coils first. Still won’t get cold. The fan motor is working and airflow is coming into the fridge and freezer. I hear a clicking noise coming from the plug on the side of the big black pot with copper tubes coming into it. Every 3-4 minutes I hear an initial “click”, then nothing happens for about 1 minute or so, then another “click”. Sounds like a relay opening and closing, but nothing else happens.
Unplugged the refer for 2 days then plugged back in, still won’t get cold. Cleaned a ton of dust/lint off the coils.

The clicking you hear is the overload and relay trying to start the compressor. You could have a bad overload and relay or a bad compressor. I would replace the overload and relay. This is the the less expensive of the two. If it continues clicking after the new overload and relay are on you will need a new compressor which is very expensive and may not be worth fixing.
