We are servicing an LG Refrigerator that when the icemaker is on and is done making ice it shuts down the whole refrigerator system. It doesn’t cool or turn on. Any ideas what could be causing this failure?

Does the unit function correctly with the ice maker off ? If so run the unit through diagnostics with the technician diagnostic link below. If everything is running normal with the ice maker off and diagnostics come back with no errors I would replace the ice maker. There is only one service bulletin related to this issue, but not with the ice maker .( If protective film on doors is removed after refrigerator is plugged in, the unit can go into Safe mode.
