The dropped a skewer (long toothpick) in the screw hole of the microwave. This is the screw hole that attaches the microwave to the cabinet. I am afraid to use it now.
I called LG and was told to call the place I purchased it because if I do anything it will void the warranty. When I told them that it was Brandsmart which is a store they told me that Brandsmart would tell me who I could call or make good on the warranty. Brandsmart said that they didn’t install it, so it is not their problem.
I would like to know if there is anything I can do to get this toothpick out?

Hello,
If the toothpick is lodged in the hole that connects the microwave to the wall cabinet, it won’t affect the microwave’s functionality. If you bought it from Brandsmart, they likely used subcontractors for the microwave installation. If you’re determined to remove the toothpick, you will need to uninstall the microwave. If you don’t know anyone who can uninstall it for you, you can search online for handyman services in your area. A local handyman can come and take care of it for you. I hope this helps!

  • I have not installed it. I planned on putting skewers in the mounting screw holes on the top of the microwave and then tip that up toward the bottom of the cabinet to mark where exactly to drill the holes in the upper cabinet. I am replacing another over the range microwave that died. I didn’t want to do a lot of guesswork with the template and drill many holes in the cabinet and end up weakening it. I already have drywall that you can literally push screws into and only one stud that the bracket is hanging from. Well, the wooden skewer fell in the mounting screw hole in the top of the microwave, so I abandoned the installation since I do not know if it will cause functionality problems such as start a fire… If you are looking at the front of the microwave, then it fell on the right side – where the buttons would be or where a handle normally would be. Will the wooden skewer (long toothpick) cause problems if dropped in there by the controls? I was hoping for a repair manual to see how difficult it would be to remove the cover. I understand there is high voltage transformer in there and know that it can be deadly even when turned off. This is ridiculous inquiry… LOL I feel so stupid. – Sorry about that.
  • Thank you for your help with this. Please see my message above about how we ended up here, but if you have a parts, repair or technician manual for this microwave, I would be very grateful for any and all you have. If you know for sure that it will be fine and will not cause an issue, please let me know.
