I own a Whirlpool washer that was not running and giving me an error code of “E something”. I unplugged the washer, plugged it back in, worked for a day and did the same thing. I then had a technician out to my home, paid the $70.00 service call, and the technician told me he could not definitively tell me which part was bad. He said the error showed a communication error(?) and it may be my mother board or a motor board or something else(?). Estimate if I needed all parts was almost as much as I spent on the machine. Anyone heard something like this? How can they not know what is wrong with the machine?

Thanks,

Franklin

Franklin, You have either a bad main control mother board or a defective motor control board. Sad but true you need to put on the main board first to see if the other board is bad. There is no other way to diagnose it and if both boards are bad its not normally worth the repair cost.
