Hi. My name is Joe. I am trying to trouble shoot a problem with my above mentioned refrigerator. I touched the water dispenser button to switch it from ice and the blue leds went black. I then tried all the other buttons and no matter what buttons I depress the small display lights up with blue diagonal lines across it. I believe at that time the refrigerator was still operating because I left it for 24 hrs before I started to try to diagnose the issue the first thing I did was to power down the unit for a few minutes the powered it back up. When that didn’t work I left the unit again for about 12 hrs and then we noticed that it was no longer cooling or freezing. I checked the interface board for power and I have 12vdc on two different sets of wires. I just want to confirmation that this interface board is my issue because it’s not returnable

Hello
I would start out by entering the unit into the diagnostic mode see ( Service test mode ) . Then you can start with service test 101 through 244 to test each individual compenent until you find your defective component. See the link below for the diagnostic sheet. Matt Ace technician

Service Test Mode:

Enter the Service Test Mode by performing the following sequence of events:
1. Press and hold the WATER Keypad.
2. Press and hold UR Keypad.
3. Release the WATER switch and wait 3 seconds.
4. The display will show SE confirming entry in the Service Mode.
5. Press the UR Keypad again to confirm entry in the Service Mode.
6. Display will show 101 in left display and numeric or dashes in right display.
7. Press UL Keypad and LL Keypad to toggle through Service Test numbers.
8. To exit service test mode, open and close refrigerator door or hold door alarm for 3 seconds.

Control board Troubleshooting

Programming Mode:
The Program Code is located on the Serial Plate on this unit after the word Code.
1. Press and hold the WATER Keypad.
2. Press and hold LL Keypad.
3. Release the WATER Keypad and wait 3 seconds.
4. The control will display PE to indicate the programming mode.
5. Entry is confirmed by pressing the LL Keypad once more.
6. The control will display the current Program CODE. This value should be validated with the Program CODE printed on the unit serial plate.
NOTE: If the Program CODE is correct, the Programming Mode is exited by pressing water Keypad for 3 seconds.
7. Press the UR Keypad or LR Keypad to change the digit value with each key press.
8. The decimal point indicates the selected digit. Press the UL Keypad to select the next digit.
9. Once the desired Program CODE is entered, press and hold the LL Keypad until the Program CODE begins flashing indicating it has been saved.

    Hello. Just plugged in be water dispenser interface board and the same thing is going on with the new board. Today is my last day. Can you extend the tech support so we can figure out what is wrong with this refrigerator
  • That is very strange. You have power the the user interface and a new U.I did not fix the issue. You may have a shorted wire somewhere. I would check for a damaged wire to the U.I. The wires should enter the door through the top hinge. Check here for any loose or damaged wires. If everything checks out good, the only other possibility I can think of would be a faulty main control board.

    I check the wire at the top hinge and where it comes through at the dispenser. It all looks like new. The voltage I have at the dispenser board is 12vdc between the green/blk yellow/blk and between red/ blk and pink/ blk. Is this the correct voltage? I also have to believe it’s the other board. I removed the back cover plates and I have a very mild burnt smell at the heat sinked transistor. It’s is just so strange that I have voltage out of it. If the voltage is correct, My only explanation is that the power supply is breaking down under a load.
  • Looking at the wiring schematic you should have 12 vdc incoming from the red/blk wire. So from red/blk to ground or green/ black (which is a ground)you will have 12vdc. It shows pink/blk as the dispenser so that makes sense that you have 12vdc from there to red/blk as well. They do not show where you should or should not have 12 v on the schematic. If the wiring checked good, the only thing left would be the main control. I wish you luck.
