I think it may be the main control board, I just want to be sure. The ice comes cubed, owner cannot change to crushed ice or to any other setting. IE is the error code flashing on the front display.

Hi. You can not change the settings on the User interface on the refrigerator door? None of the buttons are working? If that is the issue you may have a bad user interface assembly. p# DA97-08518D. Link attached. I have seen this part go bad, but not for this issue. Usually the paddles for water and ice go bad to where when you try to get ice it will only give water or vise versa. It’s on common issue with this part. The control board could also be bad, not sending correct voltage to U.I. If the U.I is still lit up and just not accepting button selections I would lean more towards the U.I being bad. IF you have not already, try to reset the unit by unplugging for 15 mins and plugging back in. IT could just be glitched up.

Would the display be getting an IE error if it was the control board? We already replaced the interface assembly but that did not fix the problem.

I have seen this a few times before and just came across this information again. Sometimes on some of these models you will get this error code after the unit was unplugged or a power outage and it needs to be reset. Try this… PRESS and HOLD the ENERGY SAVER button and the LIGHTING button at the same time for 10 – 15 seconds.
