I have an LMXS30776S/00 LG refrigerator with no cooling whatsoever. Refrigerator has never been used. No heat felt on compressor. Resistance across C & P terminals of compressor is 8.2 ohms. All sensors in freezer and refrigerator check out good. Smart diagnosis comes up with no data. When i test PCB, I get a 3 blink code on LED. Tapped high and low side and pressure remains the same with and without power. Is my compressor bad or PCB? Voltage gets up to 13V0AC before it times out.

Hello
The Inverter compressors have three winding’s, not just two like the old compressors . All three winding’s should have the exact same resistance. If the resistances vary from each other by as much as a 1 ohm, the compressor will not run correctly. This is one of the ways of checking an inverter compressor to making sure that all three winding’s have the exact same resistance. This is different from the old school compressors with just two winding’s the start winding has a much higher resistance than the run winding. Go to page #93 in the link attached to go through linear compressor diagnostics for your exact model. If all checks out with compressor replace the PCB. Matt Ace

Page 99 shows right terminal is an Open Terminal and no testing done on that winding. That’s why I left it alone.
  • You are correct on the P-C terminals for this model, you do not have a compressor inverter board. This model is powered through the PCB. Your 8.2 ohm reading is within the acceptable range for the winding’s. You need to check the harness, capacitor and dead short to ground on the two compressor terminals. All three test are on page #99. If those three diagnostics tests come out good replace the PCB board. The PCB LED error codes are on page #122, if you have two on and one off and all connectors are securely fastened it is saying to replace PCB. If you have a three on and one off check harness then replace compressor.

I must be missing something about the error codes on #122. I don’t see any error codes on the manual link you sent. I did all 3 tests on on page #99 and all checked out good. Just curious why the voltage gets up to correct number and then drops after 40 seconds.
  • Hello Compressor troubleshooting is on page #93 not #122. This is a variable speed compressor and that is why the voltage changes after the the compressor starts. The linear compressor during start up for the first 40 seconds and will be at half stroke intervals. The every .08 seconds it will ramp up to until it hits maximum stroke in 3 minutes and 15 seconds.

I’m only reaching 74V off COM201. I’m now starting to lean more towards the PCB. Guess it’s cheaper than the compressor.
