so the client has a dryer that vents 7 floors up….they thought it was the vent that was clogged and had it cleand but still will not dry good.
they now put the hose outside a window and they said it works better.
i tested the dryer with a air flow meter and got poor readings Evan outside the window.
i disconnected the hose from the dryer itself and got a good reading..
can it be the blower is failing?
and if soo how wold i fix it?

Sounds like a venting issue to me. If it works properly and you have proper air flow when the vent is off then is has to be too long or clogged or pinched. There could be an air restriction inside the dryer itself. Lint build up in the blower or air duct, a blower wheel that is broken, or a lint screen that is not allowing air to pass through it. Try to run some water through the lint screen. that water should pass through it easily. If it holds water you will need to replace or clean it. The next thing would be to take the bottom panel off in the front. There are screw on the bottom to remove. Then you have access to the blower housing. Remove that and check the blower wheel and for lint build up.

hi i have checked it all. its all nice and celan. can it be the blower has gone weak from the all the work it had to do blowing up 7 stories? and if soo can we replace it?
  • The blower wheel is attached to one side of the drive motor. I have never seen the motors get weak like that where they would spin slower and cause poor air flow. They usually work or don’t work. I have seen blower wheels get reamed out in the middle so they don’t spin with the motor or lint bill up inside causing poor air flow. Can’t say I have ever seen a broken blower wheel on this style unit before.
  • If air flow is not the issue here you could have bad gas coils. They will cause the unit to heat at first but then will stop heating until they cool back down. This causes extended dry times. It will gradually get worse.
