THE COMPRESSOR IS DRAWING 1.4 AMPS AND ALL FANS ARE RUNNING. I INSTALLED A SERVICE VALVE ON THE PROCESS STUB AND IT IS READING 70 PSIG. I DON’T HAVE A VALVE ON THE HIGH SIDE. THE PRESSURE DOESN’T MOVE WHEN THE UNIT IS UNPLUGGED. THERE WEREN’T ANY SERVICE VALVES PRIOR TO ME ADDING THE ONE. IS THIS AN INDICATION OF A BLOCKAGE, BAD COMPRESSOR OR SOMETHING ELSE. I’M RELATIVELY NEW TO REFRIGERATION AS MOST OF MY EXPERIENCE IS WITH A/C. THE UNIT IS NOT COOLING AT ALL. THE COMPRESSOR FEELS VERY HOT AS WELL.

Hello
If your compressor is running 1.4 amps and you have 70 PSI on the low side ( Suction ) that is a confirmed defective suction valve in the compressor. That means you would have to replace the hermetic compressor to correct the issue. The normal running pressure should be 2-3 lbs suction pressure. The reason for the high suction pressure is a gasket / seal around the suction valve is letting the high side gasses leak through the low side. So your normal running pressures should be ( 2-3 lbs. Suction ) and ( 125-130 lbs High side) When the suction valve leaks through the high side gasses it will raise the suction pressure to 50-70 lbs. suction and the high side will be at 70-80 lbs suction because it is leaking high side gasses through the suction or low side of the system. Then with 70 lbs suction you will have 70 degree coil temperature and no frost on the evaporator.
