when i try to turn on my washer machine it makes like a humming and grinding noise during the beginning start up. turning the power button off does not actually turn it off so we have to unplug it from the wall. sometimes it washes sometimes it does not. whirlpool.

Hi Athalina, Thanks for your question. The noise your are probably hearing is the drain pump running when you first start the cycle. It will shut off after a few minutes. But what I will need you to do, is watch the video I am attaching to this thread about how to put your washer into diagnostic mode. It is not the same exact model as yours but is the same process to enter diagnostic. After you watch the video and put your washer in diagnostic mode, follow the “error code display”…. Please document the sequence of the lights and how they flash and please get back with us. This will give us a better idea of what we have going on!
