In reply to: refrig. won't reset.

This is the information pertaining to your issue as directly addressed on the official web site. The problem may be that the error code needs cleared properly on panel and not by unplugging only. *GE Refrigerator Fault Code = FF
Refrigerator/Freezer Condition = Check frozen foods for thawing

Repair or Check = Freezer temperature has been above normal for more than 2 hours. Make sure that the refrigerator and freezer doors are closed. Replace the door gaskets if needed. Press the System Check button to clear the error code and check for other system failures. If the PF code appears, then the FF code, this was likely caused by a power failure. Keep the refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible to allow the interior temperatures to come back to normal.

F30 F31 Open probe connection. Shorted Probe connection. The next step would be to change the sensor probe and hard wire it in. I have seen many times where the connector is compromised and although the sensor probe tests good at approx. 1100 ohms (at room temperature) the connection is bad. It may not look bad to the eye but i recommend cutting the connector out and hard wiring a clean and properly stripped connection with porcelain wire nuts.Be sure they are porcelain or they will melt. Since the existing sensor has same reading as new one it is most likely good, but if you already purchased the part it would be up to you to maybe try hard wiring existing probe first. If the existing probe reads at approx. 1100 ohms at room temp it should be OK but if you cant return the new one I would replace it. It is possible that you may have a user interface issue but I would have to hard wire the sensor probe first to eliminate that possibility. Also just to be sure ,in case you have not already done so be sure to check the resettable fuse for continuity even though the red button may not have been tripped.

That is strange that it will not open for you. Does it open even a little bit? Does it budge at all? Something must have gotten lodged just right inside or there is an issue with the tracks. I have seen track screws fall out or loosen up and get lodge in the track. Not much you can do other than pull as hard as you can and fix anything that breaks in the process. You can try to tilt the unit or lay in down and it might move that track just right to open. Just remember if you do lay it down you will need to let it sit for 24 hours before plugging it back in.

In reply to: Vibration

Hi. If you go back out to look at this unit I would have the customer load the unit to where you can see this vibration happen while you are there. There is not anything in particular that I am aware of that could cause this. There are a lot of possibilities. Check to see if the shocks are worn, if the unit is spinning properly, and if there are overloading the unit or running off balance loads.

If the EOC detects that the oven temperature probe circuit is OPEN during the initial power up
you will not be able to program the time of day and the EOC will display “F30 ERR”
and the alarm will sound when you attempt to set the time. These are resettable, they are wired in series with the sensor and trip out during self clean. Located close to the area where the probe harness passes through the liner at back of oven. If you reset it, it may (likely) trip again during next clean

Sounds like an interface board issue from a distance. I would be tempted to check the incoming voltage while the unit is under a load to make sure there are no fluctuations such as would occur if a Neutral circuit was not solid. The selector board next to it may have also been affected if this unit was subject to a recent power surge, storm, etc. Sometimes the damage doesn’t show up immediately, but the electronic components eventually fail. Take the top of the range off by unscrewing the burner rings. They will often be stuck and care must be taken to not warp them by using pliers or some other gripping tool. Even then on occasion they will have to be drilled out if they are “welded” onto the burner tube from spillage and other contaminants. The access to the relay board is then apparent under the small service panel. Reseal this panel with aluminum tape when reassembling.

In reply to: F30 code

The Frigidaire glass top slide-in Range model # PLES389ECH has a habit of triggering a F30 error code , which according to the table of error codes implies an issue with either the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) panel (located beneath the Control Panel Assembly), or the temperature probe itself (located within the main oven cavity, back wall, upper-left corner). Hello
Go to page #5 on technician sheet and run the unit through diagnostics. Let us know if their is any error codes stored. I would call Sears and request a manager, if you have a contract it should be covered. Matt Ace technician

Hello
You stated the refrigerator was displaying the 88’s on the display. That is indicative of an error code on this model. The segment issue on the display is probably the error code that is associated with your failure. Usually that segment flashes on and off and the fast track manual tells you what the error is. First of all, is the segment dim or is it flashing? If it is flashing on and off, that is an error code and you should NOT replace the control panel unless the error code has something to do with the control panel.
