Hello, I could not find the best parts diagram to describe what I think is going on but here I go. What I think what is going on is either the ice refroze in the bin and has jammed the metal lever on it or possibly the solenoid that the metal arm goes into has ice built up on it. you can pull the bin out and then hold the freezer door light switch then hit the ice maker for crush or cube and see if the solenoid moves or just buzz. if it moves check the ice bin and if just buzz then check to see if it moves freely.

Hi, If the impeller is freely turning and you do hear it you most likely have a blockage in the drain tube. I have attached a service manual at the bottom, there is a rubber flap/check valve that can stick, it is located where the drain hose hooks up. see page 56.

In reply to: leaking water

Hello, If it is screeching while spinning it could defiantly be the baring and if it is leaking around the baring I think you are on the rite track. You will want to replace the seal as well. I have provided links to the parts I would change while doing this repair.

In reply to: taking long to dry

Hello, Are you checking the air flow at the back of the machine or outside the house? If it is week at the back of the dryer then you will will want to check to see if the blower wheel is slipping on the motor shaft or the motor is not turning fast enough, i doubt it will be the motor. If you are checking outside the house than you may just have a clogged vent. i provided a link to the parts breakdown for this model.

Probably the mode shiftier, not the motor. See diagnostic link provided.

Hi. IF your temperatures in the ice box are cold enough to produce ice and you are getting water to the ice maker, you most likely have a faulty ice maker. Have you already installed an ice make in this unit? There is an updated ice maker and service pointer for the ice maker that I have attached for you. Please take a look at them.

In reply to: Frost build up

Hi. This unit has an evaporator in the fresh food section. It sounds like this is where your frost build up may be coming from. How are your temperatures in the refrigerator section? Frost build up isolated to the evaporator cover usually indicates that it is not self defrosting. Your model has a service pointer that may be your issue. Take a look at the link I have attached. See if the serial number of your unit falls with in the serial range for the pointer. I have also attached the tech sheet on this unit so you can run the diagnostic tests.

In reply to: Won't drain

Hello, yes it does sound like you are having a issue with it draining. On this model you need to take the back panel off to get to the pump. This style pump is notorious for coins blocking the drain pump tubes also socks n such. I provided a link for the pump if the pump is actually broken….but it is probably just blocked up.

OK. I think I have located the correct tech sheet. I had your model as ghw9400plo, which is what you listed. The last digit must be a 1.2.3.4., instead of 0. That changes the tech sheet for the unit. The FH error code includes a lot of possible parts and can be difficult to diagnose. Sounds like you have verified proper drain set up and no siphon issue. I have seen drain pumps that intermittently will not drain and cause this error, but typically you will get a long drain error code as well. Check your flow meter resistance and make sure your pressure hose has no holes and is not clogged. I have seen holes in these pressure hoses as well. If all that checks out good, then you left with the pressure switch or control board. Not a absolute way to test these as far as I know. I would start with the pressure switch first.

Hi. I am not seeing the H/L or the F/H error codes that you have listed in the tech sheet. Please recheck the error codes that you are getting and let me know. I have attached the tech sheet for you as well.

Hello, It sounds to me like the transmission has some worn out gears, in most cases you will find replacing the transmission is not worth the cost to replace it with a new washer.

In reply to: no water

Hello, I could not find the tech manual for this model. what you do need to check for is 120 volts at the vale at the start of the cycle. If you are getting power than you need a new valve. If no power is present then you will need to check the pressure switch to see if it is stuck or for loos wires.

I suspect the simmer controller, as it controls gas valve activity for the top burners. I have attached the training manual for this series. Hope it helps!

I have researched on this product and I find no detailed information regarding transmission replacement. I have provided a link directly from the G.E. website for this part and as you will see on the bottom of the page even the official web site doesn’t have a download for the tech. manual. Perhaps you can contact G.E. directly on their official website or by phone at 1- 800-GE-CARES for a free tech manual download.

See technical information below on diagnostics. We have had a few of this model ice maker having issues with the arm not making the micro switch. If you are getting water to the ice maker and its filling properly. push down on the metal arm and see if it goes into the harvest cycle. Let us know they have updated arms with more weight to correct this issue.
