The “Smart Diagnosis Tool” is fairly easy to use. Here are LG’s instructions on how to use that tool:
- Download the LG Smart Laundry & DW application on your
smart phone. - Open the LG Smart Laundry & DW application on your smart
phone. - Press the Smart Diagnosis button on your smart phone.
- Press the Diagnose button on your smart phone.
- Press the Dishwasher button on your smart phone.
- Press the RECORD button on the smart phone and then hold
the mouth piece of the smart phone near the speaker located
on the panel. Hold the phone no more than one inch (but not
touching) the machine. - Press and hold the Option button on the dishwasher display
for three seconds.
After three seconds, the display will change from – : — to 17
and then start counting down the remaining time.
NOTE - With the phone held in place, press the Smart Diagnosis button
on the phone.
Do not touch any other buttons or icons on the display
screen.
NOTE - Keep the phone in place until the tone transmission has finished.
This takes about 17 seconds and the display will count
down the time. - When the recording is complete, view the diagnosis by pressing
the Next button on the phone.
If you have any trouble doing this on your own they do offer that same support over the phone at 1-800-243-0000.
I would recommend trying this feature before installing parts you may not need. If I had to guess I would say it may be with the main control on the unit. Sometimes the relays on the board will give a “buzzing” sound when failing and with intermittent problems on the machine it sounds like the unit is not sending or receiving the correct information. However, I would start with the Smart Tool first and let us know what codes you get from that, it is a free service and fairly easy to do. We also have a copy of the owner’s manual if you need that. Good Luck and let us know what you find.
