In reply to: making blocks of ice

Gary, the icemaker part # is DA97-05037D. As always, the link below will give you pricing and availability. Also, I didn’t find an exact match but I did find a similar video to this that should help you along with this repair. Best of luck!

First thing that comes to mind is the float sensor/reservoir area, have you cleared that of any debris? If there was a lot, sometimes it gets stuck in and around the float and causes the “levels” to read as off, even when they are correct. Can also check the inlet valve just to ensure proper amount of water is entering.

Brian, what about the tub to pump hose? We find that the least likely places or obvious ones are usually the last places we check and where the leaks are. A small hole can push out quite a bit of water. If not that, maybe try and leave the cover off as it drains and watch it?

The control isn’t always bad, we sometimes order both but it may just be the display that is bad. I’d start with the display and go from there. Or have both and return the control if you don’t use it.

Fred, my first thought would be the drum supports/rollers. There are 4 of them. See if they are all intact still. I come up with a part# DC97-16782A for your model. Let us know!

In reply to: Unit not cooling

What about the fresh food temperature control? We occasionally do the control and evaporator together. Our guys spend a lot of time on these units just diagnosing, so don’t feel bad if you need to return to the customers home, or tell them that it may involve some more in depth researching. Better to get it right then not figure it out at all! And they will appreciate you putting in the time to get them back up and running.

If it is the sump, you’ll be ordering the entire assembly, part number DD94-01004A. It’s a big part but if it’s the fix you need then I’ll add the link below for you. Hope that information helps you!

Harley, rugs tend to cause a lot of issues, especially when they are coming apart before putting through a cycle. If the drain and pump are fine, I’d also check the tub to ensure pieces weren’t left behind, as well as the cleanout/catch where coins, debris, and other rug pieces may still be stuck. Hope this helps you out!

Also, just found this after I finished the above, may help you determine the noise!

David, this may need a drum bearing assembly kit. The part number is 479332, but we order directly from the vendor so I’m not sure who you’d go through to get this. It’s currently back-ordered with no ship date so we’re not even sure when our shipment will arrive but hopefully you can manage.

James, we clear condensers on these fairly often, have you checked it already? They can get plugged and cause the fans to run some times. If it is, and you clear it, make sure to reset the control and see if that fixes your issue. Let us know!

Not a problem! The control module part number is 395627up. Unfortunately, we do not sell them online, we order directly from the vendor, so I don’t have a link for you to purchase from. If you’re looking at more of this brand these days, it may be worth it to consider setting up an account with them. Hope this helps though, you may be able to order from a vendor you already use.

Frozen drains are actually the root of a lot of problems we see, typically the noise the customer hears is the fan hitting the built up ice around the evaporator. A conductor is a good way to keep that ice from returning, but occassionally there are other issues. Normally we do a conductor and have the customer monitor. If it happens again it won’t take long and you can further investigate from there. Hope this helps!

Fred, that is correct, some whirpool parts do fit as replacement parts for samsung and other brands. You’ll be fine ordering and using that if it comes up as a correct match for your model number. I’ll add purchase information below if you’d like to order through us. Good luck!

Not a problem, we’re happy to help! This is most likely the drive belt, you’ll have to get inside to take a look, but I’m assuming it’s broken or has come off. I’ll link the most common drive belt we replace below for you. Good luck!

This normally relates to the the thermistor or sensor, part # 6322FR2046C. It’s an inexpensive fix for the most part & should get you up and running again. I’ll link it below as well.
