Chad, you have a defrost problem. This takes about 3-4 weeks to restrict the evaporator with frost and stop the unit from cooling. See the repair video links below to solve your issue. Also support our parts department for any parts needed. 1-800-830-5465 Matt Ace technician

Your welcome! These black shavings from the belt usually indicate that the pulley nut has came loose. This causes the the pulley and belt to drop down and rub against the plastic motor shield. It will create a grinding noise and can cause error codes to occur or the basket to not spin fast enough. This is a common problem I see with theses washers. You will want to take the shield and nut off and inspect the belt and cam for damage. Replace any damaged parts. When you re install the pulley nut apply some thread sealant so the nut will not come lose again. I have attached a video for this repair and links to the belt and cam if needed.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your help. No stored error codes resulted, and my husband spent all afternoon trying to get the washer tub out of the unit (does it always have water in it?). He found nothing clogging the drain, but the belt looked quite worn down and there was black “stuff” which spewed from the belt all around that area. Can send you a video/picture of what he found if it would help.

Thanks,
Terri

Ed, sounds like maybe it’s not staying level. Does it happen again gradually over time after you get it leveled correctly? In some cases, we advise lowering the leveling legs all the way down and then level as accurately as possible and tighten using a nut so that it doesn’t loosen or move over time. If you think this is more of an issue than this, let us know, we can help advise on running diagnostics and checking for error codes that may be stored. Good luck!

Miriam, there’s a couple things that might be happening. We normally check the touchpad itself, and the control module behind it. I’ll attach a video of a similar model showing how to get inside the door and some diagnostics that should be pertinent. It may be one or the other, and in some cases, both. There’s also a lot of wiring in there, so check connections for the harnesses, etc. Ensuring they are in good condition. I’ll add the part links for those I mentioned, just in case you need them. Once you get in there, if you have more questions, let us know!

Emily, this is most likely your dryer belt. It has either slipped off or broken and will need put back on. I’ll add a video showing this for you. Also, there’s a part link for you to buy a new one if it has broken or needs replaced. Let us know if there’s anything more we can do for you!

Brandon, it’s possible the dispenser mechanism itself is broken, but more likely that it needs to be cleaned out. I’ll attach a video for you to take a look at, and it will help you access it. If it does end up needing replaced, I’ll add a part link below as well. Good luck on this!

Lamont, without a model I can’t give you too many specifics, but I can tell you a few things to check that should help you out. Drum glides o(r slides) are a common issue with squeaking sounds, as well as bearings, idler pulley’s, and a unit that is not balanced or leveled properly. Hopefully this gives you somewhere to start. If you get me some more information I can help narrow down some possibilities.

Charlotte, this sounds like your icemaker is failing. Unfortunately on this model, it’s one single unit so parts & pieces cannot be replaced individually. I’ll add the part you’d need below if you’d like to replace it yourself. Let us know if there’s anything more we can do for you!

David, we always check the entire drain, from the unit to the disposal, and even sometime under the sink on it’s main exit. The dishwasher pump pushes a lot through that drain, so something you might not notice from the sink, will cause the dishwasher not to drain. We find a lot of blockages from the drain to under the sink or near/after the disposal connection. Start there and let us know if it comes back cleared. You’ve checked the other main components we’d suggest in the unit so we can diagnose a bit further if necessary.

Helen, my first guess when you mentioned opening and closing the door – is the door switch. If it is loose or broken, the unit will not start. May be clearly visible but not the first thing people think of to check. I’ll add a video below as well as the part link. If this is not the problem, let us know, we’ll help you diagnose further.
